We need to stop romanticizing a lazy lifestyle

The new “in thing” that seems to be spreading all throughout social media is living a lazy lifestyle. I don’t think there’s been one time where I’ve skimmed through my feed and haven’t come across a quote or meme relating to #LazySundays.

When did being lazy become the new black? It was funny at first, but now it’s gotten to the point where all people seem to do is promote a lifestyle where doing nothing all day is totally normal. I understand that it’s the internet and sometimes what we see or read shouldn’t be taken seriously, but usually the things we preach turn into reality. I get that we live in a world where everything is just the tap of a button away, but why is being an unproductive member of society so hilarious?

If people promoted inspirational quotes half as much as this, we’d probably be getting a lot more shit done

It’s irritating as hell and in some ways disturbing to see posts about how eating an orange is just too much work. This has gotten so bad that now making it out of bed has become the accomplishment of our day rather than a daily norm. Don’t allow yourself to tolerate these apathetic excuses to be lazy and unproductive because it only prevents us from being ambitious enough to reach our goals. If people promoted their aspirations and things they loved, rather than the things that are slowing them down we would be getting a lot more accomplished.

There’s a difference between a lazy day and a lazy lifestyle

I would be lying if I said I never had a day where I felt like laying in my bed and binge watching a show I’ve already seen a solid ten times. There are times where it feels like I’m doing the most, but then there are days where I’m blank and the only thing I can do is procrastinate my day away. Doing nothing puts my mind at ease sometimes, it’s one of the peaceful moments where all my worries seem to vanish. Until those peaceful moments turn into my everyday life.
